We Have Separation!
We Have Separation!
This is a view from the second stage of the Delta II launch vehicle which lifted OSTM/Jason-2 into its orbit around Earth in the early hours of 20 June 2008. The camera is mounted on the second stage of the launch vehicle and is pointed at the spacecraft. We see the spacecraft separate from the rocket, and after about 2 minutes, the solar panels deploy, bringing power to the satellite systems and instruments.
