For his efforts in sharing information on international climate change research, Joshua Willis of Section 324 has garnered JPL's Charles K. Witham Environmental Stewardship Award.

Willis' studies of ocean warming and sea-level rise have been widely used by colleagues all over the world. His calculations of long-term and short-term sea-level rise were used in the recent Fourth United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Assessments. At JPL and in Southern California, he has given many lectures and interviews and has worked with students to educate the public about climate change and what each of us can do to mitigate the human impact on global warming.

JPL Director Charles Elachi presented the award Oct. 8. Also on hand was JPL oceanographer Bill Patzert, who nominated Willis for the honor.
